I'm so tired today that I've given myself a headache. Scab-cat went to the vet this morning: he has ringworm, hooray! Now he gets a second medicated cream. His wounds are a lot better but he's getting very tired of two liquid medicines twice a day. Fluff-cat has almost grown back all the fur on his butt that he chewed off when he got itchy (for some mystery reason) this fall.
Been thinking lately about my cooking skills. I try to make home cooked dinner as many nights as possible, although it can be hard when I'm tired. Over the course of the past six years I've gotten pretty competent in the kitchen. It's strange to me, now, that it's considered a somewhat advanced cooking skill to make a roux or temper an egg. Recipes are more guidelines than actual rules. Measuring isn't really a thing these days (while cooking, not baking, I'm not good enough at dough yet to be able to tell what the right textures are). It's a nice skill to have.
Over Thanksgiving I cooked some meals for my family for the first time since I moved out and they were so surprised that I could throw together something hot to eat from whatever I pulled out of the cabinets. It was really gratifying! My dad even remembered that food when he called on Christmas.
Lots of meta on social media lately on the gendered nature of preparing food and cleaning up after. That's always sort of weird for me, since I'm in a relationship with another woman. There isn't a man around to sit by and watch sports while the wife does all the mean prep. I'm the butch one, here, but I can't open jars to save my life and I like to cook and I fuss over if the oven is clean or not.
Gender is fucking weird.
I think I'll have some Steve/Tony genderswap fic ready to post today, so I'll be eligible for this year's remix exchange and everyone can see my feelings on gender expressed in fanfiction form. Also, it is definitely the most porn I've written so far. I was really motivated to write some hot, very explicit lesbian sex to prove a point. Namely, hot lesbian sex exists that isn't for a straight audience, but also that gay sex works differently from straight sex because our rules are inherently different because we're divorced from the hegemonic definition of The Full Sex: penis-in-vagina ending in male orgasm. Lesbians usually don't come with the equipment to do that shit, so we have to re-define things. I want porn that engages with the new rules, so I wrote some myself.
